In 2018, Columbus Regional Health and the City of Columbus partnered to begin the process to purchase the FairOaks Mall with the vision to transform the mall into NexusPark, a community wellness, recreation and sports center that would maximize the use of the space and bring about economic opportunities for the region.

The sale of the former Fair Oaks Mall was finalized on December 15, 2021 by the City of Columbus and Columbus Regional Health for $5.9 million. The City of Columbus is the majority partner, with a 75% ownership of the property. Columbus Regional Health owns a 25% share of the property. The City of Columbus, Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, and Columbus Regional Health will be utilizing Nexus Park for various enterprises.

The NexusPark campus will include:

  • An indoor sports fieldhouse
  • Columbus Parks and Recreation Department administrative, activity and community spaces
  • Retail
  • Restaurants
  • CRH medical and wellness offices
